Khalifa International Stadium is a stadium multi - functions that are located in Doha, Qatar. Before the implementation of the 2006 Asian Games held at Doha, the stadium was used for the implementation football match, but in this stadium there are also facilities for a variety of other sports. The stadium has a capacity of 50,000 people. Khalifa International Stadium is the main stadium and the implementation of the 2006 Asian Games is part of the Doha City Sports Complex, which also includes the ASPIRE Academy, Hamad Aquatic Centre, and the Aspire Tower. This stadium is the main headquarters of the Qatar national football team.


The stadium was opened in 1976, but renovated until 2005, and enlarged its capacity for the Asian Games 2006 from the original 20,000 seats to 50,000 seats. A roof was also built on the west side of the stadium, and an arch on the east side that is used as a platform lighting of fireworks at the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Asian Games.

Many athletic events at the 2006 Asian Games held in this stadium, including the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the Asian Games itself. In 2011, the stadium is host Asian Cup 2010.
